About this deal

It isn’t just the hardware that’s seen a significant overhaul. The Pixel 6 also comes with Android 12, which brings with it a radically updated look and feel, courtesy of Google’s new “Material You” design language. The good news is that the company has created another powerful camera setup here, and we’ve found it to be far more versatile than on previous Pixel phones, with more options to play around with. Android 12 is ready and waiting for you on this handset, and it looks fantastic. If you want to experience the latest and greatest version of Google’s software, this is it in its purest form. We’ll start by talking about the camera tech, but the software here is another highlight, and something you won’t experience on any other current phones – although we might see Google roll some of these features out to older Pixel phones, while we might see other brands imitate them on future devices. It’s an impressive point-and-shoot camera, and we found that it delivered great results in a variety of scenarios.

The fingerprint scanner is good but not quite as rapid as those on the Galaxy S21 Ultra or OnePlus 9 Pro. Aston Villa vs Luton Town live stream: How to watch Premier League game online and on TV, team news It’s really quite effective at removing stuff, too. In the below examples, I’ve removed both a lamppost and a skyscraper, and while it’s not completely seamless – you can see some clues where they’ve been deleted – the Pixel 6 got rid of what I wanted rather well. The Pixel 6 Pro has a 6.7-inch QHD+ display, which is suitably large and offers crisp picture quality – the resolution of 1440 x 3120 is a remarkable step up compared to 2020’s Pixel 5 and its 1080 x 2340 screen.

Google’s cut-throat Pixel 6 is a force to be reckoned with

The Pixel 6 also gets a significant leg up when it comes to gaming. In the GFXBench onscreen Manhattan 3 test, the Pixel 6 achieved an average frame rate of 79fps, which, if you take a look at the graph below, is almost three times faster than last year’s phone. Blimey.

Google Pixel 6 Pro review: a top-tier Android handset - TechRadar

Google's smartphones are built around the company's camera technology, and on paper the camera setup in the Pixel 6 Pro looks like the best from the company yet, with a 50MP wide camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera and a 48MP telephoto shooter. Other improvements within Android 12 include changes to widget settings, a one-handed mode and a new AppSearch feature. This allows you to search for stuff within an app in the phone’s settings menu, rather than launching the app itself. The company is again focusing its efforts on strengthening the Pixel’s camera capabilities. The rear camera is now a 50MP affair (up from 12.2MP), complemented by a 12MP ultrawide unit and a 12MP selfie snapper on the front. The camera’s new “Magic Eraser” tool now allows you to remove objects and people from the image just by circling them in the edit, too.Tensor-enhanced dictation tools allow you to dictate and edit text with your finger at the same time for fast text input. Pixel 6 vs Pixel 6 Pro: These are the biggest differences Google Pixel 6 vs Pixel 6 Pro: These are the biggest differences

On 3DMark Wild Life, which measures graphics performance, the Pixel 6 netted an average of 34 frames per second, and the Pixel 6 Pro got a higher 40 fps. The two handsets finished our video editing test in Adobe Premiere Rush in about the same amount of time: 48 seconds. That's good but not as fast as the iPhone 13's 26 seconds but it beats every other Android phone. Google Pixel 6 vs Pixel 6 Pro: Battery and chargingFrom local speech and object recognition to camera processing and photo editing, all of Google’s more advanced systems certainly run faster on the 6 Pro than on the previous Pixel 5. But comparing like for like with rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and OnePlus 9 Pro proved difficult. The 6 Pro is one of the first smartphones to ship with the latest Android 12, which introduces Google’s Material You design and systems. It is one of the biggest visual overhauls given to standard Android and adds personalisation options that have required third-party apps or tools offered by the likes of Samsung, OnePlus and others in the past. Don’t let those benchmarking scores put you off; the Google Pixel 6 Pro is still a powerful phone, and the Tensor chipset isn’t a poor choice. The Pixel 6 Pro is Google’s reinvigorated attempt to beat Apple and Samsung’s best smartphones, with powerful new cameras, custom chips and a standout design.

The Pixel 6 Pro instead uses 12GB RAM, and either 128GB, 256GB or 512GB storage. Unlike on previous Pixel devices, this update is particularly noticeable here. With its gorgeous display, the Pixel 6 Pro is the perfect showcase for Android 12’s new Material You feature, and it's one of the true highlights of this smartphone.
