About this deal

Leather texture vinyl covers the sides of the unit, and upfront is a grey fabric grille. The Marshall logo is significant, but cast in a soft gold rather than the stark white of most Marshall amps. Aside from being larger than its the Stanmore II, the Woburn II shares the same look as other members of the family. The controls sit on a brushed gold plate on the top of the unit. Most modern wireless speakers are a little ashamed of their physical buttons, but here they’re part of the appeal. One thing folks can never say about Marshall is that their speakers are ugly. The Marshall Woburn, Stanmore, and Acton speakers are all brilliantly made and a pleasure to behold. The material feels luxurious and resilient while also being comfortable to the touch and the exterior of the speaker looks like it was meant for the edge of a stage. The Marshall Woburn Bluetooth speaker also comes with RCA connectivity for people who want to connect their device to a wider Hi-Fi system.

You can select between a 3.5mm input, a pair of RCAs, or an HDMI cable using a small button on the brass control panel. This also doubles as the Bluetooth connection button, which is likely to be the most common method of streaming, and this model has the upgraded Bluetooth 5.2 logic over the Woburn 2’s 5.0. The second generation Woburn comes with a frequency range of 30Hz – 20kHz and offers two 50-watt class D amps for the woofer as well as two 15-watt amps for the tweeters. To the surprise of no one, you can also play this impressive Marshall speaker in stereo. The Marshall Woburn 2 is all about making an impact, both in terms of visuals and sounds. It’s not the most modern Bluetooth speaker we’ve seen, as it doesn’t come with things like smart assistant access.Measuring 400 x 308 x 200mm (the exact same dimensions as its predecessor), the Woburn II Bluetooth speaker is a beefy bit of kit. As previously mentioned, it looks just like a stage amp – position it on your living room floor and you'll be tempted to place one foot on it and raise your horns skyward, while you peel the carrots. Other than that, you’ve got AUX In and AUX Out connections, and RCA connectivity if you’re looking to make the Woburn II part of a wider Hi-Fi system. At this price, it would be good to have seen some more smart features – multi-room support with the rest of Marshall's multi-room range would have been appreciated for instance, or Spotify Connect or AirPlay functionality, too. Extremely few, and even then, you’ll think I’m clutching at straws. First up – there’s no carrying handle like my old guitar amp had. I should point out this is not supposed to be a portable speaker, and in fact, Marshall does make portable speakers with straps, but hear me out. If the max volume isn’t a deciding factor and you want a speaker that offers a few additional options and the same audio quality Marshall has become famous for – the Woburn 3 might be worth the added cost. It seems a shame that this device doesn’t include smart functionality and other features like wireless charging, especially for the price.

While the product does get loud, it falls a bit behind the second generation at 100.5 decibels. It does offer all the analog controls its previous model does as well as an in-app equalizer so you have plenty of different ways to adjust the music to your preference. This speaker doesn’t offer any battery-powered portability; it’s a mains-powered speaker. This is hardly a surprise, though: a battery would make the Marshall Woburn II one of the largest portable speakers around. During Don't Stop Me Now, the Woburn II Bluetooth speaker's versatility really starts to shine, the speaker delivering Freddie Mercury's operatic meandering with cleanliness and verve. Even at high volumes (and this thing gets very loud), the speaker just about manages to hold things together, with only the faintest hint of deterioration. As the song drew to its breathless climax, it was easy to see why Marshall has been the preferred choice of stage musicians for the past six decades. Marshall Woburn II review: The alternatives There’s a new speaker array in the Woburn 3, which features a three-way driver system (Woburn 1 and 2 only were only two-way) including a 90w sub with a rear port, two 15w mids and two 15w tweeters. This is supposed to give a richer, more even tone and help the Woburn 3 project further into the corners of your room. Marshall Woburn 3: what’s the story with the design?Ego at The Flying Fox also offers the perfect pub-stop for dogs and their owners in our dog friendly areas. Our furry friends can expect to be welcomed inside our dog friendly area with tasty treats and a water bowl. If you’re looking for a place to bring your dog after a muddy and walk, then we are here to cater for you and your pooch. The Woburn 2 is as bulky and bold as a practice amp, brimming with stage presence. It’s not the kind of lightweight portable speaker that you would take with you to your mate’s house for a house party.

Marshall has made a point to make the materials used more sustainable, though it is hard to notice much difference from the previous iteration. The top panel is the familiar miniature guitar panel design that Marshall has smartly chosen for most of their portable products. Speaking strictly on visuals, outside of a few additional buttons and ports – these products are virtually identical. You can even access special pre-sets to help make your sound more compelling depending on what you’re listening to.

Marshall's largest speaker has a big sound to match its dimensions

Marshall’s somewhat belligerent commitment to making rectangular speaker boxes that look like guitar amps means it’s not the ideal shape for going under a TV (there’s a reason sound bars are long and thin) so unless you’ve got a lot of space it’s likely you’ll have to position it off to one side.
