About this deal

It’s a stable running shoe and Brooks are using their GuideRail technology on that medial side so it's catering for a mild overpronator.

The overlays are flexible and forgiving, while the heel collar is pretty stiff, with a built up external collar outside of the upper. I took them on both short and medium distance runs of about 8-9 minute pace, with two of them being double runs after workouts. The foot needs to transition to toe off and here it is somewhat impeded by the rail for me even as below the rail the shoe is quite flexible, Why not just make all rails out of DNA Loft as the rest of the midsole with the DNA Loft a touch firmer overall to contrast with Glycerin which currently has the same midsole firmness minus rails? In the cushioning stakes the Transcend is second only to the Glycerin in the Brooks stable of shoes; it gave a plush ride every time when clocking hard-won miles during Covid-friendly virtual marathon training. You know, if you needed to be on your feet for hours of walking and standing in line it seems like your feet would feel as happy as your kids are at Disneyland. The update of one of Brooks Running ' s most iconic sagas remains true to its essence, offering a more natural and less aggressive ride for the running foot.

As much as I liked the upper material, I had to try adjusting the lacing a few times to get the fit right. More traditional in seeking pronation control it has a more responsive faster feeling EVA/TPU blend midsole and is a better choice for more uptempo training, while the Transcend shines with its softer feel for more mellow paces. At least for me, the GuideRails are still “overdone” and to much of a contrast with the rest of the underfoot feel.

I will test pronation control as will some of other testers and just did the excellent (for me) Kayano 27 which relies on what I feel is a much more sophisticated system which is more adaptive. It stays on top of that platform for a secure fit and feel as you transition through to midstance to your release point. The Transcend has middle-of-the-road cushioning—not too soft that I feel like I’m wearing bedroom slippers, and not too firm that I feel every crack and pebble beneath my foot,” said associate test director Jen Sherry. If you are looking for a running shoe capable of offering greater support and stability while running, the Brooks Transcend 7 is perfect for you! The feedback on the Brooks Transcend 7 was it’s very stable which is fantastic but it lacked a little bit of flexibility on toe-off.
